Nilakantheswar Temple, Kalapara, Mahakalpara, Kendrapara

 


Nilakantheswar Temple is dedicated to the worship of lord Shiva. It is situated at a distance of nearly 25km far from the city of Kendrapara. It is one of the famous Shiva Temple of Kendrapara. The Temple is located in Kalapara, Balipal, Mahakalpara. The serene ambiance in which the temple is situated inspire spiritual feelings among one and all.



The Temple popularly known as "Bila Mahadev "  ( ବିଲ ମହାଦେବ) .












Festival & Worship

* Shivaratri is the main festival celebrated annually in ( Phalgun) month when thousands of devotees visit the temple. Apart from a full day of fasting, Bel leaves are offered to " Lord Nilakantheswar" on this auspicious day. The main celebrations take place at night when devotees pray all night long. The devout usually breaks their fast after Mahadeep is lit on the spire of the temple.

* Thousands of Bol Bom pilgrims carry water from river and walk all the way to temple during the month of Shravan month every year.
