NATIONAL TRIBAL DANCE FESTIVAL - 2013

KENDUPARAB DANCE OF KUTIA KANDHA TRIBE (ODISHA) :

Kutia Kandha is a sub-section of kandha community of odisha , mostely found in belghar  block of Kalahandi district . Their principle occupation is shifting cultivation "Dharnipenu" the earth godess is their supreme deity 'kedu' is the most important festival of their community . In their festival ,they sacrifice buffalo on the belief to harvest bumper crop . In this dance ,only male member wear traditional dress participate . While dancing they use different musical instrument such as Nisini,tumbarine ,metal bell ,horn trumpet,wooden board attached with stick instrument and also sacrificial axe and sword.



 HOJAGIRI DANCCE OF REANG TRIBE (TRIPURA) :

The reang is one of the major tribes of tripura who inhabits in the hilly regions of chittanong. the women of reang community generally wear the locally made attires and adorn themselves with coin rings and indigenous flowers . Their festival and social belifes center round their faith ,and age old costumes .The Hojagiri is one of the popular dances of reang community. The dance is proformed on the occasion of Hojagiri festival or Laxmi puja , held in the following fulll moon night of Durga puja .The goddess Maulime or Laxmi is worshipped with full reverence and devotion on this day . This dance is a refection of the age-old culture . The essence and practice of the hulk or jhum cultivation is exhibited through  this dance . This is a dance of balance,dedication and delicate experties performed by 4 to 6 members from womenfolk.  






KARAMA DANCE OF BHUMIJA PUJA TRIBE (ODISHA) :

The Bhumija, a small tribal community resider in Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts of Odisha . The Bhumija observe festivals like Nua-Khai,Chaitra puja and Kartika purnima and Karama festival with great pump and ceremony . Karama dance is one of the most important dances performed during Karama festival . During festival they welcome and worship the branches of Sal tree . Wearing their traditional costumes ,the boys and girls dance and sing around their branches and lead those branches to the puja pendal. 




 WAR DANCE OF AO NAGA TRIBE (NAGALAND)

Ao-Nagas are found in the north-eastern part of Nagaland 
,mostely in the central Mokokcghung district and few of them are also found in the adjacent oa assam states .They are well known for multiple harvest festival held every year which are accompanied with several dances. War Dance is one among them . This dance is the most famous dance of Ao-Naga . The costume of naga dancers  resemble that like the warriors . The dancers also hold silver , brass and iron ornaments to make the performance more interesting. .The dance generally includes erect postures with unbent knees along with the complex leg movements and simple hand movements of the dancers .which help the audience , feel a war situation .  



 KALASA DANCE OF SANTAL TRIBAL (ODISHA)

Santal , a major tribal of odisha , is mainly concentrated in  Mayurbhanj,Keonjhar and Baleswar districts of state. Agriculture is the mainstay of their economy and livelihood. The santal culture is enriched with different festivals,dances,songs and musics. They dances to the tune of musics,wearing their traditional costumes. In dance generally the male folk play and musical instruments like drums, flutes,etc . While the women dance of the tune of musics . The Kalasi dances is generally performed  in the month of january to celebrate their freedom from subjugation and exploitation during feudal regime.
