    Sakhibata is known as Guptakhetra. The area is known as a shrine as it is associated with the Panchasakha and Lord Baladevjew. Prior to the construction of the temple in Icchapur, Kendrapara, Lord Baladevjew was worshiped at Shakhibata for long 9 years.

    Another mythology said that Lord Shree Baladevjew was kept secret here for a long 12 years period from 1658 to 1670, as there was a risk of invasion by the Mughal ruler. Therefore, this place popularly known as Guptakhestra.


    The 500 year-old-Banyan tree, mute witness of time and history of Kendrapara, Odisha. The large tree spread across 1.3 acres of land with about 600 sub-trunks, with its numerous aerial roots, the banyan tree resembles a forest and providing natural ambiance. It has been attracting tourist throughout the year.


    A small temple, which is over 200 year-old, is still intact at the spot. Local resident here worship a Hindu deity. the temple is also a reminder of the place's historic importance. The local people organize religious fairs every year at Sakhibata. People from Kendrapara and adjoining district turn up large numbers.
